Assam Cancer Care Foundation (ACCF) is a joint initiative of the Government of Assam and the Tata Trusts and are setting up the largest three-tiered cancer care network in South Asia to provide accessible and affordable cancer care. A total of 17 (seventeen) cancer care hospitals are being set up in different districts of Assam with an objective to bring quality cancer care closer to patients’ homes.Eight ACCF Cancer Care Hospitals at Dibrugarh, Barpeta, Silchar, Tezpur, Lakhimpur, Jorhat, Kokrajhar, Darrang are operational along with the apex centre at State Cancer Institute – Guwahati. Another seven hospitals are in the initial stages of construction at Tinsukia, Sivasagar, Golaghat, Nagaon, Dhubri, Goalpara and Nalbari.The uniqueness of the initiative is world-class cancer care with cashless treatment under the flagship healthcare schemes of the Central and State Government like PMJAY and MMJAY. In addition, all ACCF hospital rates are capped at CGHS rates making it affordable for patients who are paying out of pocket. The facilities are digitally enabled by DiNC (Digital Nerve Centre) that has been set up within the premises of State Cancer Institute (SCI) in Guwahati. This centre will connect the three-tier hospital network in real time for delivery of virtual care as well as through effective and efficient communication.The Government of Assam has been strengthening the continuum of cancer care and preventive services through extensive community based activities focusing on down staging by sensitizing masses through awareness, prevention, early detection, optimal treatment, and palliative care leveraging the existing state healthcare system as well as the capabilities of ACCF.
