Garden reach shipbuilders and engineers ltd the genesis of garden reach shipbuilders & engineers ltd (grse) dates back to 1884 when it started its business of operating shipbuilding and repair workshops as an unincorporated entity. in 1934, the company was incorporated under the indian companies act, 1913 and started its new journey as garden reach workshops (grw) limited. our company was acquired by the government of india in the year 1960. grse, a mini ratna category i company has delivered 100 ships to indian navy and indian coast guard and mauritius coast guard since 1960. grse’s primary role has been building warships and other vessels for the indian navy and indian coast guard. over the years, grse has established well proven capabilities for in-house ship design and building and has made significant contribution to the success of indigenous warship construction programme. grse has emerged as leading shipyard of india, building a wide array of vessels, from fast attack crafts to world class frigates. apart from ship building and repair, grse has diversified into engineering business with a product profile of pre-fabricated steel bridges, various deck machinery and assembly/ testing/ overhauling of mtu diesel engines. grse is playing a key role in defence preparedness of india to produce the most modern warships through indigenization for the country aimed at self-reliance. grse has established the virtual reality lab for achieving better ergonomics and in-depth understanding of the details of the ship in the design stage itself. post modernization and revitalization, the shipyard has capacity to build 20 ships (08 large & 12 small) concurrently. recent achievements of grse  first indian shipyard to deliver 100 warships since 1960  record delivery of 08 warships in 22 months (jun 17-mar 19)  90% indigenous content achieved on anti- submarine warfare corvettes and landing craft utility ships  defence minister’s award for excellence 2015-2016 for in- house
