PSA AVTEC Powertrain Pvt. Ltd. is a Joint Venture between the Groupe PSA, France and AVTEC Limited, the leading manufacturer of powertrain and precision engineered products in India and part of a reputed Indian Business House-the CK Birla Group. The joint venture agreement that brought Groupe PSA’s state-of-the-art technology and the CK Birla Group’s manufacturing excellence, was announced in January 2017.The green field plant being set-up at Hosur, close to Bangalore, will be engaged in the manufacturing of next generation technologically advanced gearboxes and eco-friendly engines, in line with future industry norms and customers’ expectations. The manufacturing capacity for powertrain (engines and gearboxes) will cater to the domestic market needs and global automotive OEMs.With an initial manufacturing capacity at about 300,000 gearboxes and 200,000 engines per year, the plant will further receive incremental investment to support a progressive ramp-up going forward. The performance of the industrial set-up will be supported by a significant level of localization, in order to reach the necessary cost competitiveness.
