U&i is a volunteer driven charity that is committed to partnering with social organisations to work towards positive social change in the spheres of education, anti-trafficking, child and women welfare and mental health. established in 2011, by satish manchikanti, a successful businessman and ajit sivaram, a youth worker, u&i has always been about aiming to make a difference by educating and rehabilitating people from various communities. with a focus on engaging people in social action, u&i runs 2 programs across 12 cities in india, in partnership with orphanages, state homes, colleges, corporate and ngos. as of today, u&i impacts more than 1500 children and an equal number of young volunteers. u&i teach works with underprivileged children with the aim of empowering them through holistic education and mentorship. today, we are active in 12 cities with over 1500 volunteer tutors teaching 1050 children from underprivileged backgrounds. with a tutor to student ratio of 1:3 individual attention is given to each child and they grow in their confidence and their academic ability. u&i care works with vulnerable sections of our community providing therapy, counseling and vocational training. currently, u&i care works with five state-run institutions in bangalore, primarily serving physically and mentally challenged men, women and children. our volunteers also visit some of these homes on a regular basis so as to provide much-needed social interaction for these residents.
